Martha Dixon A Clark County resident, Dixon gained international recognition for designing high fashion dresses for former first lady Hilary Clinton in the late 80s and 90s. Dixon designed the dress that Clinton wore at the 1993 Presidential Inaugural Gala. For years, Dixon tried to get her dresses carried by several local couture boutique stores, but was turned down. Her life changed drastically when Clinton got a hold of Dixon designed dresses and loved them. Dixon formed a friendship with the Clintons that is as strong today. She’s successfully founded Martha’s Fashion and Design, Dixon Manufacturing, and Dixon Kids. You might see several of the clothes she designed worn by children due to her contracts with designing and manufacturing school uniforms for school districts across the USA. In 2005, Dixon was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame. |

About designer Laurie B. Allen Laurie B. Allen has a passion for art and design in all its forms. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising at Kent State University in December 2007. While attending college, she studied abroad in Italy and had the chance to travel around the globe. Here she learned about fashion markets worldwide, developed a deeper understanding of design, and learned the art of jewelry making. Ms. Allen has participated in several fashion shows including Pittsburgh Fashion Week, Fashion Week Columbus, Fashion Week Cleveland and Little Rock Fashion Week. Ms. Allen was selected Fashion Week Cleveland's Designer of the Year 2010. Ms. Allen's label Laurella was selected by fashion executives and fashion journalists as the Little Rock Fashion Week 2011 Clothing Line of the Year. Ms. Allen designed a prototype for an Italian retailer by the name of 959. In 2007, she interned for KraftMaid Cabinetry, some of her ideas can be seen in stores now. In her spare time she sews alterations for friends. Some of her other interests include drawing, traveling, photography, skiing, and knitting. Laurella, Designs by Laurie B. Allen, are softly draped in sophisticated silhouettes. Most designs are delicately cut and ultra feminine and elegant. A wide array of textures, fabrics and patterns are used to create details and interest. Ms. Allen's design philosophy is to create beautifully made garments for a young and modern woman. |
